Our Mission
Thought GPS turns every path into a chorus of local voices—so the next person who walks, drives, or rides hears a story, not silence. We believe the world comes alive when communities share their hidden histories, personal memories, and quirky facts right where they happened.
Our Story
It started with a quiet question in LA traffic:
“What were all these people thinking?”
Founder Johanna Topalian wanted a way to leave a trace of her thoughts in the world—and to hear the echoes of others who had passed the same way. Not on social media, but in the physical places where those moments were felt.
In 2025, she partnered with founding engineer Michael Lam to build a GPS-triggered audio platform that could turn streets, parks, and sidewalks into living story maps. In just 10 weeks, they launched an MVP with immersive tours of places like the San Diego Zoo and UCLA campus.
Today, Thought GPS is becoming a platform for memory, meaning, and movement—where hyperlocal reflections are just around the corner.
Our Values
- Community First: We empower everyday storytellers—historians, comedians, tour guides, and neighbors—to share authentic audio wherever they roam.
- Seamless Discovery: GPS-triggered clips mean no tapping, no searching—just effortless, hands-free exploration.
- Creator-Centric: We’ve built intuitive tools and a generous revenue-share model so that creators get paid fairly and can focus on what they do best.

Johanna Topalian, CEO
Los Angeles, CA • MBA, UCLA Anderson
Johanna has led Thought GPS from idea to MVP, blending startup grit with a storyteller’s instinct. With a background in go-to-market ops and an MBA from UCLA Anderson, she knows how to build from zero—crafting early routes, onboarding creators, and testing in the field. As the producer of Dive Bar Comedy, a long-running live show series, she’s now tapping her network of performers to help seed the platform’s launch content. Johanna combines sharp business instincts with grassroots storytelling experience to turn location-based audio into a scalable platform—shaping Thought GPS at the intersection of media, mobility, and meaning.
