How does Thought GPS work?
Audio clips are attached to specific locations. As you explore, Thought GPS can surface stories and tours connected to the places around you, creating an audio layer for the real world.
How do I become a creator?
Thought GPS Creator lets you record location-based audio, publish individual clips, and build multi-stop tours. You can record at your current location or create from home by searching for an address.
New creators can also sign up for a short onboarding session and we’ll help you get started.
Can creators earn money?
Creator monetization is in development. Planned features include paid tours, tips, subscriptions, and sponsorship opportunities. Details will be announced as these features become available.
What devices does Thought GPS support?
Thought GPS is available for iPhone and Android, with additional creator tools available on the web.
Do I need cell service or Wi-Fi?
An internet connection is currently required for features including maps, publishing, and audio playback. Offline listening is not currently available.
Where can I use Thought GPS?
Thought GPS can be used anywhere creators have published content. You can explore nearby audio, discover tours, or use the map to find stories in other locations.
Do I have to be at a location to create a clip?
No. You can record on location or create from anywhere by searching for an address and placing your audio on the map.
Do I have to follow a tour?
No. Tours provide a curated multi-stop experience, but you can also discover individual public clips connected to places around you.
How does Thought GPS handle content quality?
Thought GPS combines creator tools, community feedback, and moderation processes to help maintain useful and appropriate content. We are continuing to develop tools for reporting, reviewing, and improving content quality as the platform grows.
What about privacy and location data?
Thought GPS uses location permissions to provide location-based features such as discovering and playing nearby audio. You control location permissions through your device settings.
