What is Thought GPS?
Thought GPS is a GPS-triggered audio platform that brings places to life through sound. As you walk, bike, or drive, short, location-anchored audio clips can play automatically—no tapping required. Local creators share stories, jokes, history, and observations exactly where they happened.
How do I become a Thought GPS creator?
Download the Thought GPS Creator app from the App Store. You can record a 1–3 minute audio clip at your current location or pin it to any address. Clips can be published on their own or combined into multi-stop routes.
The main Thought GPS listening app is launching soon.
Which devices and operating systems are supported?
- iOS: iPhone running iOS 16 or later
- Android: Android support is planned for a future release
During beta, device compatibility may expand or change.
How much do creators earn?
Monetization features (paid routes, subscriptions, and tips) are planned for a future stage of the platform. When enabled, creators will earn a majority share of revenue generated from their content.
We’ll clearly communicate monetization details before any paid features go live.
Do I need cell service or Wi-Fi?
Yes. An internet connection is currently required for maps, publishing, and playback. Offline listening is a planned feature for future versions.
Can I record a clip for a place I’m not currently at?
Yes. When recording, you can use your current GPS location or manually enter an address to pin your clip to a specific place.
Do I have to follow a fixed route?
No. If you’re not following a specific route, Thought GPS can surface nearby public clips as you move, creating a more spontaneous listening experience.
How do you ensure content quality?
Content quality is shaped through a combination of creator tools, listener feedback, and future moderation systems. As the platform evolves, higher-quality and more relevant clips will be easier to discover.
What about privacy and data?
Thought GPS only uses location data when the app is active and when permission is granted. Location data is used solely to place and play audio clips. You can manage permissions at any time in your device settings.
